The 7 at Crown Heights represents an enterprising builder’s respect for preservation while responding to market need. Along with restoring an abandoned art deco fourplex, Gardner worked with the client to design a building that could complement one of the most recognizable properties in the Crown Heights neighborhood.
The original 1930s art deco fourplex required a meticulous renovation while the contemporary new construction was influenced in scale and proportion by the existing structure. Positioned north-south, the modern triplex defined the property’s western edge allowing for a communal courtyard, pool and reimagined shared garage. Here old and new are brought together, each structure adding value to the other.
