Bond Voting Nov. 2022

Oklahoma City Public Schools engages Gardner to design new facilities for Frederick A. Douglass High School.

As part of a landmark $955 Million Bond project across the City's school system, Douglass will receive a new flexible learning building and upgraded athletic facilities.

In August 2022, the OKCPS Board of Education voted unanimously to call for a transformational bond election of $955 million for improvements across the district to meet and exceed the needs of current student bodies and raise the bar to comparable Oklahoma metro district school systems. With schools in the city nearing an average age of 72 years old, a successful bond election will provide spaces for innovative learning, college and career programming, and more competitive opportunities for students to receive world-class education.

As part of this bond package, Gardner was selected after a rigorous interview process to work on the Frederick A. Douglass High School projects. The scope includes exploration and programming of new construction on the current campus to provide alternative learning spaces, classrooms, and flexible areas for student engagement. The improvements on campus will also include a new softball field and upgraded stadium press box.
